Revision of the IFOAM Accreditation Criteria (IAC)
Notification: The public consultation process regarding the revision of the 2002 IAC has been finalized.
The IFOAM Accreditation Criteria (IAC) are subject to
continuous improvement and are therefore regularly revised. The revision
starts after the Norms Management Committee approves a revision plan
submitted by the Criteria Committee.
The draft Criteria revisions (normally two drafts) are circulated
to IFOAM's membership and other key stakeholders for consideration
and comment. The CC reviews the comments on a draft and takes
due consideration of the suggestions when preparing the next draft.
The final (3rd) draft is circulated to the IFOAM membership, the International Organic Accreditation Service (IOAS),
and IFOAM Accredited Certification Bodies with a 60-day deadline for
making motions. If motions are received, "contact groups," comprised of
the Motion Maker, the Criteria Committee and the Norms
Management Committee, might be employed with the aim to resolve the motion.
Taking into consideration the revision draft, motions and contact group
results, the IFOAM World Board makes the final decision on the Criteria
revision.
